April 1, 2004 - John
Surpasses $2 Million Mark, Exceeds Goal
Posts More Than $1 Million Raised in 1st Quarter '04
Crowley, LA- Due to the strong support of individuals
across Louisiana, 7th District Congressman Chris John
announced today that he has exceeded his fundraising goal
for the first quarter of 2004 by raising more than 1
million dollars for his race for the United States Senate
seat being vacated by retiring Louisiana Senator John
Breaux.
“I am humbled and overwhelmed by the
response our campaign has received from people across
Louisiana,” stated Congressman John. “Our message of hope
and opportunity for all Louisianians is resonating with
voters, and their support puts us in a key position to
continue getting our message out. Louisianians want a U.S.
Senator who puts the needs of our state’s working men and
women first. That’s what I’ve done as a Congressman and
what I pledge to continue doing as our state’s next U.S.
Senator.”
In his upcoming 1st quarter filing with
the Federal Election Commission, John’s campaign for the
U.S. Senate will show contributions in excess of 1 million
dollars in the first three months of the year. John
entered the race to succeed Senator Breaux on February 5,
well over a month into the quarter. Approximately 50% of
John’s contributions, came from within Louisiana. With
these contributions John will have over 2 million dollars
cash on hand as of March 31, 2004.
