This is Dennis. I cannot thank all of you enough for the tremendous response we have received in just a couple of days from people all over the country who are urging us to stay in this contest and move forward with our message of hope, and optimism, and peace. Just in a few days we raised about $200,000 which was really astonishing, and it puts us in a position where we are moving the campaign along. I'm now in Texas on the way from San Antonio to Corpus Christi and will be campaigning in South Texas all day. Tomorrow I'll be in the March in Selma, the commemoration of the march, and then I'll be back to Florida. We have strong campaigns going in both Texas and Florida, and it's because of you - because you're enabling us to move ahead. So as you're thinking this weekend about the direction of this country just know that you're helping to move not only a message, but to move America in a new direction. I'm so proud to be part of this effort and so grateful to you for everything you're doing to make this happen. We are on the way to Boston, and you can help smooth the road and help us speed our path towards that convention, by continuing to support us financially, spiritually, in any way you can. This is the moment for us to continue to stay together, and to move ahead and to celebrate thiswonderful effort which is changing America and the world. Thank you so much, this is Dennis, and I'll be talking to all of you soon. Bye now. Are you? *********************************************************************** Hey guys - I'm still voting for Dennis: after seeing the surge of support for Howard Dean, how could the DNC believe that the same tired politics as usual has any appeal? I know that my son and his friends will not switch to Kerry. I know my husband wrote in Howard Dean. The only candidate who speaks honestly to the trade and social issues I care about is Dennis Kucinich. Being from Massachusetts, I could vote for anyone and my vote won't make a difference. But as a Massachusetts resident, I've seen that that Kerry has held every position on every topic, and just like any hack, his main goal is to get himself elected. I'm truly afraid that George Bush is going to eat Kerry's lunch come the election; especially if past history is any indicator of the future. Sincerely, Ann *********************************************************************** -----Original Message----- From: Kevin R. Dennis Kucinich will remain in the race as long as he has democratically elected delegates representing him, he will represent them as he speaks out on Gay Marriage, an end to NAFTA and the WTO, the need to get out of Iraq, and the need for Universal Single-Payer health care! Importance: High Dear Kucinich activists, It has been, and continues to be, the greatest honor of my life to stand with Congressman Dennis Kucinich in this historic campaign, and to stand with the committed progressive grassroots network which you are a fundamental part of. We have all done the work, day in and day out. We have carried the signs. We have handed out the flyers. We have sent the emails to carry the message, we have gone to the rallies, raised our voices in the protests, organized the fund drives, and taken our friends, family and neighbors to the polls to cast that vote. This campaign has been about the candidacy and message of Dennis Kucinich, but it has also been about you. As the Congressman has said time and again, he is not the one you’ve been waiting for. You are the one you’ve been waiting for. You have always been here, and you will always be here, to stand for the truth and for a better America. Congressman Kucinich will be in this campaign until it arrives in Boston for the convention. But we must consider the day after the convention, and the weeks and months to follow. Never in the history of this nation have we faced a graver threat to freedom, worker’s rights, environmental safety and global justice than that which is represented by the administration of George W. Bush. Simply put, he cannot be allowed to remain in the Oval Office after January 2005. The movement which has grown around the campaign of Dennis Kucinich must be prepared to move beyond that campaign and into the wider political world which so desperately needs his progressive message. We must continue our cause and our movement to ensure that the voice and message of Congressman Kucinich is heard loud and clear at the Democratic National Convention. We must reach out to members of the Green Party, the Natural Law Party, and to Independent voters from across the spectrum so as to bring forth a movement so mighty and righteous that the filth of this administration will be swept from our government in an unstoppable, cleansing tide. We have only just begun in this cause, and many miles lay yet before us. Congressman Kucinich cannot do this important work without you. Cast your vote for him in the primaries and caucuses which remain. Speak to friend and neighbor about him. Raise high his banner and his sign for all the world to see. Carry his progressive message, which is also yours, in your heart and on your lips. The mobilization continues. The movement marches ever onward. We stand for hope against fear, for justice, for democracy, for America. I stand with you, in honor and with gratitude. Let us begin again, as ever in the name of solidarity and hope. Kevin R. Kucinich campaign, please refer to the following letter sent Wednesday by Kucinich Campaign Manager Dorothy (Dot) Maver to nearly 100,000 staff, volunteers, supporters, contributors and friends. Dear Friends, There comes a moment when we look forward and backward, almost simultaneously, and decide either that everything we believe in is possible—or that our hopes and our dreams are unobtainable. Now is just such a moment. This is a moment of historic choice in our campaign—a moment where the decisions we make will have effects that ripple forward through generations, decisions that will profoundly affect our lives as individuals, our relationships with other organizations, the future direction of our country, and indeed the future course of the world. It is the day after Super Tuesday and there is much to report in the Kucinich for President campaign. First and foremost, I want to thank everyone who worked so hard over these many months to bring us to this point in our journey. We are now looking ahead to the remaining states and the Democratic convention in Boston in July, 2004. We must focus on states where Dennis can gain delegates, so that we go to the convention from a position of strength. This morning the media declared Kerry to be the Democratic nominee. It's been reported that President Bush phoned John Kerry and offered hopes for a spirited debate, and that Kerry is looking for a running mate. That said, we all must remember that in order to be influential and win the election, the Democratic Party must honestly address issues such as single payer universal health care, jobs, trade, education, the war in Iraq, the need for a Department of Peace. Congressman Kucinich has emerged as the voice of the progressive movement in the political debate. His campaign will continue to secure delegates on the way to the convention where, with our ongoing support, he will continue to be that voice. Thus we will focus on the upcoming primary/caucus states, purchase media time, operate a national campaign, and, with your help, make certain that the human values at the heart of this campaign/movement will be at the center of politics in our country. Together, all of us will ensure that Dennis Kucinich continues to be heard and that the voice of the progressive movement in our country will be part of the transformation of politics and our world. Let us persevere with this vital work to create the world we all envision, the world that exists in our hearts, the world we want to give to our children and our grandchildren. My heart sings as I contemplate our concerted effort. Our combined chorus of voices will resound through generations as we demonstrate to the world the majesty of our collective vision. Together we will continue to make a difference as we join with others to create a culture of peace with non-violence as the organizing principle. To move forward in our journey it is absolutely critical that we keep raising money—especially now, while we still qualify for federal matching funds before hitting our March 4th expiration date (checks dated March 4 and funds received over the internet on March 4 will be matched). Please invest in our future—in our children’s and our grandchildren’s future— by contributing right now on the website (www.kucinich.us) or calling with a contribution (866.413.3664). We look forward to the possibilities that will emerge as we each play our part in this unfolding evolution of the Democratic Party—and more universally, the human spirit. Dear 2004DNC website editor, The Kucinich campaign is doing better than ever! 30% of Hawaii's votes with no advertising! Below is a letter I wrote to my local newspaper describing Dennis Kucinich's last minute meeting at a large Coffeehouse in Jacksonville, Florida where 250 showed up (at least) to listen and cheer a speech and discussion that rivals the most inspiring in recent past. This followed a rally in Gainesville, Florida where Dennis and Dave Matthews band bandmember earlier were in front of several THOUSAND people. letter: It is rare that a "politician" can be inspiring, but last night at Fuel Coffeehouse in Jacksonville, with a crowd of 200 listening, that's exactly what happened when Dennis Kucinich spoke about his beliefs, political positions and campaign issues. It is unfortunate that most media declines to cover his campaign, because when people hear what he is about, they listen and are surprised there is a politician who does the right thing even when it appears to be political suicide. Dennis spoke about real issues, like healthcare for all - we are paying for it right now, but are not getting it. There is over $1.6 TRILLION spent in this country by us through fed/state/local money and insurance premiums-- and more than $400 BILLION - that's what our entire defense budget consists of - is spent by the "insurers" on things like executive salaries, stock bonuses and advertising! That is over 30% "cost" of running private insurance compared to 3% spent by Medicare. So why are we paying for coverage we are not getting? Dennis Kucinich has been trying to change the system so we GET what we PAY for, but he needs our help to do it. Just as FDR needed our help to get the New Deal through. We need to put people in government who are more concerned about us than their own careers and Dennis Kucinich has shown that with his actions. He refused to sell the municipal utility company to the highest bidder when he was Mayor of Cleveland because he knew it was the wrong thing for the citizens of the city and when the city went bankrupt because those who wanted to buy the utility were involved with the bank who finainced the city - Dennis lost his job. But 10 years later, it was proven he was right and the citizens of Cleveland and Ohio have repeatedly put him back into office - beating out incumbent Republicans along the way. Dennis Kucinich is also the Only candidate who has always voted and taken action AGAINST the "patriot act" which over 100 cities across the country have enacted legislation to refuse to acknowledge because of its invasion of the very privacy and freedoms our forefathers founded this country on. He is also the Only candidate who has a plan to bring our troops HOME from Iraq, a PLAN. He detailed it step-by-step. A real plan that brings us out of Iraq without leaving their citizens in the lurch and helps those innocent Iraqi families who have lost loved ones due to the war, same as we have lost loved ones. The crowd at Fuel was silent while Dennis spoke, amazed that their are people like this still in politics, we hear so little about them. That is a shame. We need to hear MORE about people like Dennis Kucinich. He gives us hope for the future. I hope that all registered Democrats will turn out to vote in the primary this Tuesday - and if you agree with getting the healthcare we already pay for and bringin our troops home sooner rather than later, then please consider Dennis Kucinich. His website www.kucinich.us has all his positions and a chart showing how his positions compare to other candidates. Sincerely, Kim K.
